Place your pick flat against the string.
Bend your thumb knuckle to angle your pick.
Press gently down on the angled pick - it’ll slide right through the string.
Practice your galloping with the exercise below using this new technique! Adjust speed as needed. When you’re comfortable, push the speed up until you max it out.

On your picking hand, move your thumb and fingers to the very edge of the point of your pick.
Use as much point as you need to get the sound you want, and no more.
Let your fingers be a guard against the pick going further into the string - feeling your fingers against the strings is okay!

Aim to play this as fast and controlled as possible. Start slow, minimize hand motion and pick contact area.
Increase speed as you become comfortable and more relaxed. Keep the same relaxation as you get faster.
